How to Join a SSYAF Teams Meeting: A guide for clients and families.

Stanford Sierra Youth & Families uses Microsoft Teams for video conferencing. It’s easy, HIPAA compliant, and free to be a participant. The following details how to join via computer, or by the Teams phone app.

Joining via computer

When you receive a Teams meeting invite, it will have a link to join the meeting, and a call in number if you plan on only joining by phone. It will look something like below.

To join the meeting, simply click on the “Click here to join meeting" link.

When you click on the link, it will ask you how you want join the meeting. The choices are shown below.

You can download and install the Windows app, then optionally create a Microsoft account, or just join the meeting. Or, you can simply join the meeting right from the browser.

Either way, creating a Microsoft account is optional, and you don’t need to have a Teams subscription to participate in a SSYAF team member’s Teams meeting.

Your meeting will now open, and you can enter your name (if this is your first Teams meeting), check your audio and video settings, and then join the meeting!

Joining via Teams phone app

When you receive a Teams meeting invite, it will have a link to join the meeting, and a call in number if you plan on only joining by phone. It will look something like below.

To join the meeting, simply click on the “Click here to join meeting link”.

When you click on the link, if you already have the Teams app installed, you can join right away. If you don’t have the Teams app installed, you’ll be prompted to download it from your phone app store (it’s free), as shown below.

Once you have installed the Teams app on your phone, you can either open the Teams app and signup for a free Microsoft account, then join the meeting, or just go back to the meeting invite and join the meeting as a guest.

You’ll then be in your meeting!
